01 · Independent care

Make care easier to enter—and easier to trust.

The operating lessons behind a direct-pay clinic built around clear access, visible pricing, and a continuing patient relationship.

Prosper Health & Aesthetics · Clinic owner & operator

The premise

Good care becomes harder to trust when patients cannot tell what it costs, when they can be seen, or who owns the next step.

The operating problem

Traditional healthcare often separates the person delivering care from the systems that shape the patient experience. Scheduling, pricing, follow-up, and communication can become friction the patient has to carry. For an independent clinic, that friction is not a side issue. It is part of the care.

The response

Prosper was built as a direct-pay practice in Sioux City with clear service paths, transparent pricing, and access designed around a continuing relationship. The clinic spans weight management, hormone health, aesthetics, hair, laser, and wellness—but the common operating idea is simpler: make it clear what happens next and who is responsible for it.

Design decisions

What the work required.

  1. 01

Publish prices and explain the path into care before asking for a commitment.

  2. 02

Design scheduling and communication as parts of the clinical experience, not back-office details.

  3. 03

Keep the relationship between the patient and the practice instead of handing it to a marketplace.

  4. 04

Treat missed handoffs and unclear ownership as operating failures worth tracing.

What it taught me

The lessons are more durable than any feature list.

Access is a clinical promise only when the operation can reliably deliver it.

Transparency reduces anxiety before it improves conversion.

A clinic can care deeply and still fail people through a weak system.
